Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, with all manufacturing taking place in India, Neutral® is a market leading producer of sustainable apparel and accessories to the B2B-market.Neutral® is the result of more than 20 years of experience in the conventional textile industry, witnessing a constant pressure for lower prices at the expense of natural and human resources.
As a result, founders Lars Bech and Christina Larsen have been dedicated to develop a platform for sustainable clothing, manufactured with true respect for people and planet. In 2008, Neutral® officially became that platform. The defining aspects of Neutral® and Certified Responsibility™ have been a holistic approach driven by commitment and an overall focus on action and continuous improvement. Having international sustainability standards covering the entire supply chain, the Neutral® business case is built on the highest social, ethical and environmental criteria for clothing production.
Today, Neutral® supplies sustainable clothing to a wide range of customers within the private and public sector like UNHCR, Noma, L’Oréal, Malmö City and Roskilde Festival.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark & Investment Fund for Developing Countries awarded Neutral® the CSR Abroad Prize 2015 dedicated companies promoting social responsibility and sustainable growth in the developing world.
We are truly honored to have received this particular prize, having experts within the Danish CSR-community recognizing our work! The jury consisting of representatives from The Danish Institute for Human Rights, The Danish Federation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Transparency International Denmark, WWF and Danfoss explained that Neutral® was selected as winner due to our exceptional commitment to sustainability in a difficult industry.
Besides Neutral®, Butler’s Choice and Mearsk Line/FairFishing was nominated for the prize. Making sustainable clothing can be tricky. But with certificates it doesn’t have to be. They guide us through the supply chain, from cotton field to final product, telling us what’s okay.
Defined and monitored by external organizations, the certificates are our way of making the most responsible clothing we can. By applying these standards, we’ve set some objective criteria for the production of every single Neutral® product.
That’s why our certificates are more than funky looking stamps. They are your guarantee that Neutral® products are manufactured according to the highest social, ethical and environmental international standards.
It doesn’t save the world. It doesn’t make us better. But it’s reasonable. And that makes it okay.
